FOREST REPORT

It has been a year of dialogue between us.

We have seen each season disappear into the next; the trees stood tall as people took a moment from their lives to reconnect with the forest.

Now is our time to REST and REFLECT.

This year has held so much optimism and delight for some, while others have been having a more difficult, even depressing time. The human world moves at a dizzying pace—someone said “overwhelming.” It’s no surprise so many come to nature in a stressful and unhappy state.

HOW HAS THIS SEASON OF LIFE BEEN FOR YOU?

We noticed a curious thing: after slowing down for even a few moments to speak with a tree, some of the TENSION seemed to melt away.

Stressful and emotional but I'm starting to feel betterThanks for sharing that. It always feels amazing when I get some sunshine and hydration and can stretch a bitHere on tree time I always think in seasons

Over the course of a short conversation in a forest, people revealed a profound HOPE FOR THE FUTURE, even if the present day feels less-than-positive

This year saw people come to the forest to connect with trees, and leave happier and more optimistic than they arrived.

We discovered something else from these conversations...

We

Tree asking about future

...not unsurprising, but encouraging nevertheless...

...everyone wants the same someday:

TT

“A future in which we all can be ourselves“

“One with more wisdom, clarity and win/win solutions“

“One that is rich in peace, natural beauty and joy”

“A sustainable future with lots of trees and birds around”

“Where belonging is something common, something we all share”

“Where we learn to work together to help everyone do better”

“One where there are more trees”

TreeTime is part of a multi-site public art project called Future of Futures, which uses interactive tools and methods to gather people’s visions for their city and the environment. Futures of Futures is an ever-evolving initiative that asks people to dream beyond current systems through curiosity, play, and planning.  If you are interested in working with PLUS/AND to better connect people to each other and their shared futures— let us know!
